Now, Brian and I are proud Godparents so there are going to be A LOT of pictures!
This is Baby Millie! Look at those cheeks!

Here is the decor Kellie chose for Millie's party. We chose to use the colors hot pink, lime green and lavender for the cake. It just so happened that my friend Steph's mom gave me a set of mini cookie cutters with butterflies and flowers which we used to make decorations for the cake.

Since it was Millie's first birthday we knew we had to go over the top so we decided to attempt a topsy turvy three tiered cake. We first started with LOTS of cake.

The white cake had to be chilled, then stacked, layered and frosted.

Here is the cake with a crumb coat of vanilla buttercream frosting. This process had to be repeated on the other two layers.

Here are all of the layers stacked. We had to create "seats" in the cakes to set the cake above. The cake appears that the layers are about to topple over but it is just an illusion. Oh yeah we had to use dowel rods as support so the layers did not crush the layer below.

Here are the gum paste embellishments we created. We wanted these figures to create a cascading spray around the cake. They had to be made and allowed to harden over night.

We covered each layer of cake with homemade marshmallow fondant and then started to stack. Look at Mom's expression of glee in the back as she sees the cake start to take shape.

Here are all three layers.

Each layer was decorated with something different. Here is Ma cutting fondant flowers to put on the hot pink top layer.

We work well as a team!

The middle layer had a bright pink ribbon and bow around it. Here is Ma carefully removing the ribbon from the table.

The bottom layer was adorned with large lime green polka dots. It looks so cute!

Here is the cake all assembled. There are paper supports in the gum paste bow to allow it to dry and firm up, they were removed before the party.

Kellie loves cheeseburgers and cupcakes (on clothing) for Millie so we created this adorable little cheeseburger smash cake.

Here is little Millie wondering why the large crowd was gathered around her and singing.

Millie went slow with the cake at first.

But, with some help the smash cake was smashed! I love this picture because it looks like Kellie is feeding baby Millie a real cheeseburger!

I think she liked it...

Here is Millie unwrapping her gifts. She was much more interested in the ribbon and tissue paper.

The theme Kellie chose for Millie's BABY shower was primary colors. They had cupcakes in various primary colors with fondant letters on top, the decorations were all primary colors and on each table there was a scattering of baby blocks. While cleaning up at the party I asked Kellie if I could take the blocks because I had an idea (Martha Stewart of course) for them. She agreed and over a year later we made this adorable mirror for Millie's nursery.
My mom did actually made the mirror and she did a wonderful job. I got a little teary eyed when I heard Kellie tell Millie that she would be using that mirror in her baby's nursery too.

Brian said he thought the mirror would match Millie's nursery well. Here are some shots of her nursery.

This lion is hand-made by Kellie's Mom, which she sells on Etsy. All of her creations are so cute and unique.

Here is a shot of the cake at the party! It was a gigantic cake and everyone enjoyed. The party was wonderful!

Brian and I are so lucky and blessed to have been chosen to be a part of such a wonderful little girl's life. I hope next year we can make a cake fit for such beautiful little girl!

This was such a sweet blog! Thank you so much to all of you for being such an amazing part of Millie's life! She's a lucky little girl but we are all just as lucky to be blessed with her!
Your goddaughter is such a beautiful and lucky little girl! The cake you made for her birthday is amazing and the burger cake is too cute. Love the mirror, great idea! Wish my goddaughter lived closer, she lives in Germany and I haven't seen her in almost 3 years. But soon I will and I can't wait...
That cake tasted just as good as it looked. It was delicious! Why I always pick special occasions to join Weight Watchers is beyond me, hopefully Millie's Mommy freezes me a piece for later! Your Mom did a wonderful job on the mirror. Millie is lucky to have such wonderful Godparents!
